Dr. Zaeem Zia (District Health Officer) said during the last 24 hours Capital city Islamabad reported 94 cases and Rawalpindi reported 74 cases in last day. 54 dengue cases were from rural areas and 40 cases from urban areas. The Polyclinic is the place where dengue patients are admitted although 19 dengue cases in Holy Family Hospital and 7 dengue cases in PIMS (Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences), Three 03 cases for each in Capital Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi. While 30 dengue patients are admitted in private hospitals of both cities.

 

In further report District Health Officer were reported dengue cases from different areas of both cities as under:

  • 32 cases reported from Tarlai
  • 06 cases reported from Alipur
  • 05 cases reported from Tarnol
  • 05 cases reported from Koral
  • 03 cases reported from Sihala
  • 02 cases reported from Sohan
  • 01 cases reported from Rawat
  • 04 cases reported from Bhara Kahu
  • 02 cases reported from Jhangi Syeda

 

District Health team visited different areas and reported as, “Health department had conducted such activities along with special team where indoor enduring spray conducted in 2007 houses, fogging spray conducted in 2993 different points to eradicate Dengue worms” – Reported by: Dr. Zaeem Zia (DHO)

 

Total 910 containers marked and 04 of them was found positive on last day. Further reported by Dr. Zia that 194 containers were destroyed and remaining were covered by the district health team.

The DHO Dr. Zia added more. Correspondingly, 962 potential social standing sites of dengue bugs were also found and eradicated.

  

For now, Total 74 Dengue patients were testified in government hospitals of District Rawalpindi.

 

The Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) has explored in 2021 from very first date of January 2021 up to 30th September of 2021 that 387 Dengue patients were confirmed. Total of Two thousand Five hundred Thirty five dengue cases assumed as positive patients were testified in OPDs of Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital and District Headquarters Hospital.

 

The most of the patients are currently admitted in government hospitals including Sixty one 61 in Holy Family Hospital. Fifty four 54 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital and Twenty Five 25 in District Headquarter Hospital.


District Administration with the collaboration of District Health Office and senior management of health department reported that every day the number of the dengue patients are increased and probably the most patients are coming from Misrial Road of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and also from Dhoke Chiragdin areas. (Fell in Chaklala Cantonment Board – RCB)

How to protect yourself and your family members from Dengue Virus?

 

Dr. Chua Ying Ying the Consultant from Infectious Diseases department of Singapore General Hospital has told some tips about how to protect yourself and your family from Dengue Fever/Virus.



Following precautions can help you to protect yourself and your family against dengue fever or virus:

 

  • Protect against mosquito bites
  • Apply some practical precautions against Dengue like do breeding spray inside and outside your home
  • Avoid visiting some dark places and also avoid from water ponds besides your area.
  • Use mosquito killer electronic gun
  • Use mosquito killer spray
  • Use mosquito killer oil
  • When using spray, don’t spray direct on the face. First spray on hands and apply it to the exposed skin.
  • Make sure you have to care that do not apply under clothes.
  • After all, later on wash your hands at least 20 seconds with detergent.
  • Please avoiding to use on cuts and wounds.
  • Always wear long sleeves to cover your body.
  • If mosquito nets are available in your areas please use mosquito nets while sleeping.

Note: Dengue fever caused by the bite of mosquito or dengue virus and can be transmitted in your skin / body. Following are the dengue fever symptoms:

 

  • Fever with cold
  • Headache
  • Body aches especially head and legs.
  • Joint Pains
  • Loss of Desire / Craving
  • Vomiting. It’s a high symptom
  • Mucosal bleeding
  • Skin Outbreaks

 


Bed rest is very important to protect yourself or your loved once. Although, reported as positive patients recover within two weeks.
